Public Records Request
Requests
Upon written request, the City provides copies of public records, pursuant to the Washington Public Records Act (PRA), RCW 42.56, and the City’s Public Records policy at QMC 2.60.
In accordance with Governor Inslee’s Proclamation 20-28 pertaining to the COVID-19 disease outbreak, all on site and in-person PRA business has been temporarily suspended until midnight on April 23, 2020. This includes in-person submission of PRA requests, in-person inspection of records and PRA procedures, in-person copying of records, and in-person payments and pickup of copies of records. The Proclamation also temporarily suspends the initial five business day response requirement.
During this time, the City is still committed to assisting the public by processing requests for public records. Public records requests may still be submitted by the dropbox at the northwest corner of City Hall, by mail, online, or by email to the Public Records Officer. With temporary changes to staffing and closure of City facilities, the initial response to a public records request may not be able to be provided within the normal five business days. Since all in-person business is temporarily suspended, the alternative options to receive copies of requested records is electronically or by mail.
For questions or more information, please contact (509) 787-3523, ext. 204 or email Public Records Officer.
