get a concealed pistol license?
The Quincy Police
Department issues concealed pistol licenses to residents that live
inside the city limits of Quincy. If you live outside city limits,
please contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at 754-2011 ext. 468.
To get a concealed
pistol license, you must come into the police department and fill out
the application provided by the Washington State Department of
Licensing. We will also take your fingerprints at that time. The cost
for the fingerprints is $19.25 and must be paid at the time the
fingerprints are taken. The City of Quincy accepts cash or check only.
Please be prepared to spend approximately 30 minutes for this process.
The Quincy Police Department will perform a background check and submit
your fingerprints to the Washington State Patrol and the FBI as part of
the background check. Depending on the workload of the Washington State
Patrol fingerprints division, it can take from 4-8 weeks to get a
response on your fingerprints. When Quincy Police Department receives a
clear background check, we will issue your concealed pistol license.
The license is good for 5 years and costs $32.00.

How can I
renew my concealed pistol license?
The Quincy Police
Department issues/renews concealed pistol licenses to residents that
live inside the city limits of Quincy. If you live outside city limits,
please contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at 754-2011 ext. 468.
You may renew your
concealed pistol license at any time within 90 days of the expiration
date of the license. If your concealed pistol license is more than 90
days past the date of expiration, the Quincy Police Department must
proceed as if you were applying for a new concealed pistol license to
include the fingerprinting process. For concealed pistol license
renewals within the appropriate time frame, the cost is $32.00 and the
license is again good for 5 years. The City of Quincy accepts cash or
check only. To apply for a renewal, please come into the Quincy Police
Department and fill out the renewal application. We will perform a
background check and upon passing that check, we will issue the
license. Please be prepared to spend approximately 15-30 minutes for
this process.

How can I
request a copy of a police report?
If you need a copy
of an officers’ report, accident report, etc., you must submit a
request
in writing. We will not release any report without a written request.
To obtain a copy of the records request form, click
here. You may also call ahead to
be sure the report is completed. Be sure to be specific about the kind
of record you are asking about. Provide any police report numbers you
may have. Be ready to answer questions asked by the records department
about names, dates, and other specifics about the incident. Please
bring photo identification with you when you come to pick up the
report. You will be advised in advance of any cost for the record, if
applicable. If you are the victim of a crime, you will not be charged
for a copy of the police report. Please allow the records department
time to accommodate your request. If your records request is to be
denied, you will be advised in writing to include the reason for denial
and any applicable laws that lead to our denial decision. If you have

Does Quincy
Police Department have a fingerprinting service?
The Quincy Police
Department provides fingerprinting services to persons living inside the
city limits of Quincy. If you live outside the city limits of Quincy,
please contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at 754-2011 ext. 468.
The fee is $6.00 per
fingerprint card. In an effort to provide services in a timely manner,
we request that you come into the office between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Monday through Friday. If this is inconvenient, please call us to make
other arrangements. The office can be reached at 787-4718.

adopt a dog or cat?
The Quincy Police
Department operates a local animal shelter. To make arrangements to
view the available animals, please call the office at 787-4718. The
adoption fee is $10.

Can I
volunteer at the animal shelter?
If you would like to
volunteer at the animal shelter, please pick up a volunteer application
from Quincy City Hall or click here
for a copy of the application. Applicants are subject to a
background check and must be approved by the Chief of Police. The
Quincy Police Department appreciates the time and commitment of our
volunteers.

How can I
get a background check letter for myself?
Our office can only
provide you with information from the Quincy Police Department. We
cannot provide you with any information from any other law enforcement
agency in Grant County or any law enforcement agency in Washington
State. For a complete criminal history background check, you may contact
the Washington State Patrol Criminal History & Identification Section at
360-705-5100. The Quincy Police Department can provide you with a
letter that states whether or not you have a criminal history record in
Quincy. There is no charge for this letter. Please bring photo
identification with you when you come in to request this type of letter.

The Washington
Statewide Victim Information and Notification Service will tell you if
an offender is in custody and will give you other important custody
information. This service will also let you leave a phone number where
you want to be called automatically when that offender is released,

How can I
become a reserve police officer?
The Quincy Police
Department offers this program for citizens with a desire to give
something back to the community or persons considering a career in Law
Enforcement. Those accepted into the program are committing to
volunteer a minimum of 16 hours of service per month. Applicants must
meet the following standards set forth below.
Persons applying for
the position of Reserve Officer for the Quincy Police Department must be
at least 21 years of age and a United States Citizen. They must possess
a valid Washington State Driver’s License and have a good driving
record. They must also possess a High School Diploma or GED
equivalent. Applicants must have no felony record and no arrests for
Domestic Violence related crimes. Applicants with any other criminal
convictions or pending charges will be reviewed on a case by case
basis. Applicants will be required to pass the current physical fitness
test used by the department.
Accepted applicants
for the reserve officer program shall be required to attend and
successfully complete the state accredited reserve academy sponsored by
the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. Applicants will also be required to
submit to a polygraph and psychological examination required by the
state. Reserve officers, upon graduation, will begin a field training
program with specified field training instructors. Applicants who have
been accredited through a previous academy and who have been an active
reserve with another agency within the past year may not be required to
attend the academy again.
